NRA BASIC COURSE

 If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming familiar with firearms, this is the perfect class to take. In addition, the NRA Basic Pistol Certificate is honored by many NY counties, as well as many states, to satisfy their mandatory training requirements.  The cost is only $100.

Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

NRA BASIC COURSE

In the spring of 2016, the NRA changed this course to a two-step, “blended” format for their basic pistol class.  Phase 1 is done via e-learning directly through the NRA website and can be completed at your own pace.  Phase 2 is the instructor led practical class where the concepts learned in Phase 1 are put into practice.  You must complete Phase 1 in order to take Phase 2!  If you, or someone you know, is interested in becoming familiar with firearms, this is the perfect class to take. In addition, the NRA Basic Pistol Certificate is honored by many NY counties, as well as many states, to satisfy their mandatory training requirements.  Phase 1 costs $60, and Phase 2 costs $85. PISTOL
FUNDAMENTALS

The AIM Fundamentals course is an 8-hour course designed for shooters with little to no experience. This course starts out with a brief tutorial on each fundamental and a practical exercise to ensure the shooter can successfully perform those fundamentals. Students will then shoot a minimim of 100 rounds to complete the training. Cost is $150. Course #AIM-FP

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN #1

AIM Firearms Solutions provides every aspect of firearms training you will need to succeed in safe and accurate shooting. The Defensive handgun course begins by briefly revisiting the fundamentals and then shooting specially designed courses of fire that increase proficiency and accuracy based on the needs of a Defensive shooting engagement. Less instruction time and more range time ensures the Shooter that the basic fundamentals are concreted and are becoming muscle memory. This is the second building block in becoming more proficient in “Defensive Handgun”. Cost is $200. Course #AIM-DP1

DEFENSIVE HANDGUN #2

AIM Defensive Handgun #2 is only available to students who have first completed AIM Defensive Handgun #1 (or a similar professional class; Confirmed by AIM Instructors through certificate of completion). DH #2 starts with a refresher in Safety, Shooting Fundamentals and Scanning. DH #2 then quickly moves into Malfunctions and Reloading. We cover one handed manipulation, reloads and malfunction. Scenarios are custom built for moving to and from cover and what type of cover is best for the situation. Spatial awareness drills using your natural abilities and surroundings to maximize your survival. We finish up with barricade shooting, body positioning and vehicle scenarios that culminate into the final course of fire that will utilize all the courses of fire and drills from the day. Cost is $250. Course #AIM-DP2

HR 218 RETIRED PEACE &
POLICE OFFICERS

If you are a retired Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and wish to qualify under the HR 218 LEOSA guidelines. Under HR 218, you, as a retired LEO, would be afforded the ability to carry your concealed firearm in any state in the US, with very few exceptions.

NOTE: This course is only a qual course for Article 35 (Use of Force) and the firearms portion. As provided in the HR 218 bill, you will be provided a card that states you have qualified with a specified type of firearm, on an approved course. NO claims will be made as to what states or area will or will not honor the qualification.

This is a 50 round course where you will shoot from the 25, 15, 7, and 3 yd markers. Please review the required equipment list below.

This training session will certify you to carry either a semi-auto or a revolver. If you wish to be cleared for BOTH, we will have to run a qualification on the other type as well. Time permitting, this can be done during the same session. Otherwise, we will have to arrange a time to complete the second qualification. Subjects Covered:

- Allowances and restrictions under HR 218

Aspects of civilian concealed carry and mindset
- Article 35 (Justification of Defense) details
- Firearm safety rules and instruction
- Range qualification

In order to participate, you must fall under the following criteria:

- Have retired in good standing from service with a public agency as a law enforcement officer, other than for reasons of mental instability

- Before such retirement, was authorized by law to engage in or supervise the prevention, detection, investigation, or prosecution of, or the incarceration of any person for any violation of law, and had statutory powers of arrest

- Before such retirement, was regularly employed as a law enforcement officer for an aggregate of 15 years or more

- Retired from service with such agency, after completing any applicable probationary period of such service, due to a service-connected disability, as determined by such agency

- Have a nonforfeitable right to benefits under the retirement plan of the agency
