WAGGONER LOCAL FARE
Waggoner Local Fare was established in 2018. After years of amateur sausage making and meat smoking resulting in increasing demand for the resulting meat products from friends and acquaintances, it was time to open up a professional smokehouse and sausage shop. The vision was to provide customers with top quality craft made meat products that melt in the customers mouth. Top quality meats and spices are carefully combined to make one of a kind culinary delights. All products must pass the scrutiny of our palates before becoming available to customers.
We then found local and regional producers of other products such as wine and cheese that were willing to partner with us by allowing us to combine their excellent local products with ours. This enables us to provide a high value one-stop-shop for our customers. In the meantime we are establishing our own vineyard and have begun making our own proprietary wines from New York Finger Lakes based grape growers. Some vintages will be available as early as late spring/summer 2021.
Our objective is to showcase and offer some of the excellent food and wine products produced by our neighbors in New York State.
ABOUT THE OWNER
The Wagner originally Waggoner family has been in central New York since before 1800. Englehardt Waggoner arrived from Germany in 1750. Several family members fought in the Revolutionary War. My grandfather Ory Wagner served as the postmaster in the small town of Avoca New York for over 30 years. I am Alan Wagner and I first came to Ithaca New York in 1983 as a business student at Ithaca College. After a brief post graduation stint in New Jersey, my wife and I located ourselves in Ithaca permanently and raised our three children here. In 2013, I returned to Ithaca College earning my MBA in preparation for opening Waggoner Local Fare.
